Specialist Services

Behaviour & Dermatology
BehaviorDermRefService

Our clinic offers consultations for both behaviour and dermatology cases on a referral basis by board certified veterinary specialists, Dr. Gary Landsberg BSc, DVM, Dip ECVBM-CA, DACVB (Behaviour) and Dr. Stephen Waisglass BSc, DVM, CertSAD, DACVD (Dermatology). As with specialty services in human medicine, we ask that you obtain a history referral form from your veterinarian, so that we have a good understanding of what has been done up to the present date. You will also be asked to complete a comprehensive history form to provide us with some background about your pet, your family and your home, and to describe the problem and how it has progressed. After your consultation, a letter outlining our findings will be sent to your family veterinarian.

Our dermatology services are provided by Dr. Stephen Waisglass, a board certified veterinary dermatologis and our behavior services are offered by Dr. Gary Landsberg, a board certified veterinary behaviourist, and his behavioral specialty training program "resident" Dr. Sagi Denenberg.  Both Dr. Landsberg and Dr. Waisglass have appeared frequently in the media, have published extensively in their areas of expertise and have given seminars to veterinarians and veterinary technicians at a variety of venues. In fact, Dr’s Landsberg and Waisglass have collaborated on a number of projects including a joint presentation on psychogenic hair loss in cats at the World Small Animal Conference in Vancouver and a recent article that they co-authored in Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Gary Landsberg offers behaviour consultations for most canine and feline behaviour problems. Some of the most common reasons for referral to our behaviour service include aggression, housesoiling, destructiveness, phobias, anxiety disorders, destructiveness, unruly and overly excitable pets, excessive vocalization and repetitive disorders or stereotypic behavior.  Consultations for the selection of new puppies and for senior pets with signs of senility are also some of his “pet interests”.  Further details on our doctors and their credentials please click on About Us and Our Veterinarians on our home web page.

Dr. Stephen Waisglass received his Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in Britain, did his dermatology residency at the Ontario Veterinary College and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD). He offers dermatology and allergy consultations for dogs and cats at this facility. The most common cases seen by Dr. Waisglass are the chronically itchy dog. Many people are not aware that chronic ear disease is seen as a dermatologic problem in veterinary medicine and ear disease diagnosis and treatment is a special interest for Dr. Waisglass.
